How to apply & requirements
Your employer must request an employer permit for you. This is rarely given to non EU members due to approval only being granted if no Belgium workers can fill the job.
After receiving the permit from your employer you must submit it, along with the forms (found on Belgium Paid Employment page along with application directions) and additional documents required as directed. The following is a brief summary, for full details please refer back to the Belgium Paid Employment page.
- A travel document (ie. passport) valid for at least 12 months
- 2 recent passport photos
- Your original valid type B work permit (the permit your employer must first request).
- An extract from your criminal history from no more than six months prior to the date of application and covering the past year.
- A medical certificate (forms found on Belgium Paid Employment page) filled out by a doctor approved by the Belgian embassy or consulate and dated no more than six months prior to the date of application (only in case you did not apply for a work permit). A medical certificate is not required if you have already submitted this at the time of application for a work permit.
